CD Projekt Red announced on Monday that profits fell by more than half in the first quarter compared to a year earlier. Their flagship title Cyberpunk 2077, is still not available on the PlayStation Store, which a company official said will keep impacting the results for their profit margin.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been unavailable from the PlayStation store for more than five months now. Sony recognized the bugs and overall poor performance on the game, so they pulled the game from their store, and they still haven’t brought it back.
The sales numbers are big contrast from CD Projekt Red’s last quarterly profits, where they had their best year ever, to now drop by more than 60% in profits is a big concern for the company. This is definitely a big hit to the company, but it was expected seeing as most copies of Cyberpunk 2077 have been returned, and the game is still unavailable from the PlayStation Store.
Hopefully, we see some real game improvements soon for Cyberpunk 2077, but whether those improvements help CD Projekt Red’s profits will be another thing, as a lot of gamers now have a sour taste for CD Projekt Red after Cyberpunk 2077.
