One of the most beloved arcade brawlers of all time, The Simpsons Arcade, has been announced as the latest installment in Tastemakers’ Arcade1Up machines. Preorders for the replicated cabinets will go live on July 15th; while a price has not been made official, it is expected to run at $599 based on the pricing of similar machines.

For those unfamiliar, the Arcade1Up collection features ¾-sized replicas of vintage machines, and include a deck projector, a height riser, and original artwork to make the cabinet appear just as it did during its initial release. The company has been producing classics such as Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, and Dragon’s Lair since 2018.

In addition to the above features, The Simpsons Arcade will also include wi-fi capability, allowing players from around the globe to connect and fight alongside one another.

The Simpsons Arcade first arrived in arcades in 1991, and allowed up to four players to play as either Homer, Marge, Lisa, or Bart as they fought their way through the streets of Springfield in an attempt to rescue Maggie from the sinister Mr. Burns.

The beat ‘em up title developed by Konami frequently ranks among the greatest arcade brawlers of all time, right alongside other such classics as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage, and Final Fight.

The game is also notable for its extremely limited release. The game was never ported to home consoles during its heyday, and was only briefly available on PSN and Xbox Live in 2012 before it was removed less than a year later.

Tastemakers teases that The Simpsons Arcade isn’t the only new cabinet coming to your home, and promises more will be revealed this Friday, June 11th, as part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming.

Are you looking forward to bringing the Simpsons family home in the form of this mini arcade cabinet? Have you purchased other Arcade1Ups, and if so how do you like them? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
