So you want to hear a story? Borderlands fan favorite character, Tiny Tina, is getting her own spin-off game aptly titled Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, staring Ashly Burch, Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes, and Will Arnett.
There was high speculation that this game would be announced during Gearbox’s showcase due to a recent leak, but no one expected it to open Summer Game Fest. Though Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is still a looter shooter the Borderlands franchise is known for, Ashly Burch did make it clear that this is not a Borderlands game, dropping the branding all together.
It looks to be taking heavy influences from Assault on Dragon’s Keep, the second game’s D&D inspired expansion. On top of the guns, players can expect to use magic, character customization, a focus on melee weapons, and more.
In this epic high fantasy take on the looter shooter genre, players can create and customize their own multiclass heroes as they loot, shoot, slash, and cast their way through outlandish monsters and treasure-filled dungeons on a quest to stop the tyrannical Dragon Lord. Bullets, magic, and broadswords collide across a chaotic fantasy world brought to life by the utterly unpredictable Tiny Tina, who makes the rules, changes the world on the fly, and guides players on their journey. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a full standalone experience with a rich, story-driven co-op campaign for up to four players, as well as repeatable end-game content. In a brand-new trailer released today, 2K and Gearbox showcased the game’s unique themes, fantastical setting, and all-star celebrity cast.GearboX Spokesperson
